Focal Epilepsy Study
Are you living with epilepsy?
If you have been diagnosed with focal epilepsy, our clinical trial may be able to help. We are studying an investigational drug to add on to your current epilepsy treatments. There is no cost to you to participate and insurance is not required.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Seizures are sudden, temporary disturbances in brain function that can cause a wide range of symptoms, including convulsions, altered consciousness, and unusual sensations. These seizures can vary in frequency, duration, and severity from person to person.
Patients who suffer from epilepsy can also suffer from depression, anxiety, and attention problems all of which can have a significant negative impact on quality of life.
- Be 18 to 75 years of age
- Have a diagnosis of focal epilepsy for at least 1 year
- Have at least 4 or more observable focal seizures every 28 days
- Have been unsuccessful with at least 2 anti-seizure medications and currently on a stable dose of at least 1 to 3 anti-seizure medication
- The investigational medication or a placebo
- All study-related care, testing and monitoring of your health
- Continuous access to medical professionals who can answer your questions
Frequently Asked Questions
About 400 people will participate in the epilepsy study.
At least 6 visits with an 8-week observation phase, 12-week double blind treatment phase and 2-week follow-up visit. For those who complete the study an optional open label extension study will be available for you to continue the medication.
No. If you qualify and are chosen to participate, you will receive all study-related care, at no cost to you. Insurance is not required, and compensation for participation may be provided.
Like all clinical studies, your participation is fully voluntary. You may leave the study at any time.
